Eucharistic Adoration

Mission Statement
To Adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament: To pray for the welfare of our families, parish and the Church.

Hours of Adoration

The Greystones Parish Adoration Group invites you to join us in adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Hours of Adoration are as follows:

St. Kilians Church, Blacklion:

  • Mondays 7am until 10pm.
  • Wednesdays 7am until 1pm.

Holy Rosary Church, Greystones:
  • Thursdays after 10am Mass from 10.30am until 11.30am for Priests.
  • Sundays from 2.30pm until 5.30pm including the Rosary at 5pm for the Protection of Life and Family.

Introduction to the Group

The St Kilian’s Adoration Group was set up by the Parish Pastoral Council in early summer 2010. In September that year our congregations were addressed by the National Apostolate for Eucharistic Adoration.

Since October 2010 the group offered 47 hours silent adoration each week to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in St Kilian’s, Blacklion.

The feed back from participants is exciting. Participants say they love the silent prayer time, their intimacy with God. Many find the peace they experience before the Blessed Sacrament addictive.

This adoration program is an extension of one that has been running for decades which provides for an hour’s exposition after weekday Mass in Holy Rosary during advent and lent; and on Thursdays when a group prays for priests before the Eucharistic Lord in Holy Rosary.

Petition book
A book is maintained in St. Kilian’s in which people write their petitions. These intentions are prayed for by the adorers and on Sundays are included in the Masses said at St Kilian’s.

We have a core of almost one hundred people who spend one hour in adoration at a specific time each week. This group enables us to manage a roster so that the Eucharist is never alone during the specified exposition times. These members sign in on a register which facilities the overall management of the roster.

There is an increasing number of ‘casual’ adorers. These are people who ‘drop in’ to St. Kilian’s or to Holy Rosary Churches during exposition period. We wish to expand this group.
