A Message about the Day of Reflection for Ministers of the Word and Eucharist

January 28, 2012 - 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

A Day of Recollection/Reflection for Ministers of the Word and Ministers of the Eucharist in Greystones and Kilquade Parishes will take place in Newcastle Oratory on Saturday 28th January 2012 from 11.00am to 4.00pm.

Paul Thornton, The Parish Pastoral worker sends the following message with further details:

I am looking forward to meeting with you in Newcastle on Saturday next where we will gather together to get to know each other involved in the ministries of Word and Eucharist within the pastoral area.

I know that the timing and duration does not suit all, but for a large group of people it would be impossible to find a time that would. Based on the responses to date we will have a large representation across the ministries from across the area.

The theme for the day is ‘Envisioning a community in Communion with Christ and One Another’ A critical element in that is that all involved in ministry are in such communion.

Under this banner I hope to draw out over the day:

  • Praying together within our ministry
  • Meet and greet others within the areas of ministry in which we serve the people of God.
  • Reflect on how we can renew ourselves as Ministers of the Word / Eucharist in the future?
  • Gathering of concerns and needs.
  • Gathering of requirements and plans for future development.

My intention is that it is a gentle but open and informative day together, providing nourishment for the soul but also nourishment for the body.

I have booked lunch for us in the Castle Inn beside the Oratory. I know you were asked to bring a packed lunch but as Fr. Liam and I have finalised the planning we wish, as part of that, to provide you with a light lunch together on that day. The Castle Inn is a lovely setting for a meal and a chat. If anyone has specific dietary needs please do let me know through the office or when you arrive on the morning.

The day will be facilitated by a number of the priests of the pastoral area and myself the pastoral worker. Join us for all or part of the day as best you can.

May you be continually aware of the sustaining power of the Spirit as you live out your ministry in serving each other.

Paul Thornton, Parish Pastoral worker.
