Pastoral Area Activities to Celebrate the World Meeting of Families


Let’s Celebrate!

FAMILY OF FAMILIES CELEBRATION SUNDAY 19th AUG: Celebrations will begin with Mass at 11am with congregational singing led by the parish choirs. Mass will be followed by a gathering of our community and friends in Holy Rosary Church grounds from 12 noon – 3pm. BBQ treats and refreshments available for all.

Bring a picnic for your own family to enjoy. Bring a bake for the Treatbake for all to share. Various activities for all ages! See you then.

MASS TIME CHANGES: There will be no 12.15 Mass on Aug 19th. Mass at 10am in Blacklion and 11am in HR as normal. There will also be some changes on Aug 26th, details to follow.

CHOIR PRACTICE: For any choir members available to sing at the 11am Mass on Aug 19th, there will be a rehearsal on Wed 15th Aug at 7.30pm.

MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK! On Sunday Aug 19th, there will be a “Traybake Table” with a range of desserts for all present to sample! We are inviting you to bring a tray bake to share for this table.

Can you spare an hour between 12-3pm on August 19th to help? Please contact events@greystonesparish.ie or the parish office with your name, phone number and preferred hourly slot! Help is required mainly for the refreshment stalls!

COUCH TO PAPAL CROSS WALK: We’re still at it and all is going well… do think of joining in… The route is simple: from the carpark, over the bridge down Church Rd. to Centra corner, to the harbour, seafront, south beach, main street and back to the carpark, taking about 40 minutes, with a little bit of chat and crack along the way! Whether you are travelling to the Phoenix Park to see the Pope or not, why not join the group from all corners of the Pastroal Area for a mini ‘Get fit for our walk in the park’! Come along for a walk each Monday evening up to Mon Aug 20th. Meet in Holy Rosary Car Park at 7.30pm, to begin walking at 7.35pm. All Welcome.

PAPAL MASS & BUS TICKET AVAILABILITY: Once the tickets and details of our location is issued by the WMOF office, we will be in touch with those travelling on Aug 26th!

ICON OF THE HOLY FAMILY VISIT TO THE PASTORAL AREA: We were delighted to be able to welcome the official icon for the World Meeting of Families into the Pastoral Area of Greystones & Kilquade to Holy Rosary Church last weekend. Images available on the Greystones parish website.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR PASTORAL AREA VISIT TO THE RDS: If you have a WMOF Congress ticket and would like to travel with the parish to the RDS on Wed 22nd Aug, we will be meeting at the DART station at 8.30am. Departing 9am DART, arriving RDS 10am approx. Attend Pastoral Programme of choice. Meet as group for Lunch (13:00). Attend Keynote Speaker (14:30) & Mass (16:30). Option to attend Evening Programme or return by DART, arriving Greystones approx 19:30. Bring packed lunch, raingear, good walking shoes and a smile! Details of the programme taking place on Wednesday are available here.

Also, if you know of someone between 14 – 18 who would like to attend on Thursday 23rd and go to the Festival on Saturday 25th, contact events@greystonesparish.ie with your name and mobile number. Details of the programme taking place on Thursday are available here.

DUPLICATE TICKETS: If you independently booked a ticket for the Papal Mass on Aug 26th and now have a ticket to travel with the parish to the Papal Mass, it is advised that you return your original ticket to the WMOF organisers for reallocation. Send an email to info@worldmeeting2018.ie with your booking reference indicating your do not need the Papal Mass Element of your booking.
