Opening for Public Celebrations

This is an exciting time for us as a faith community.

A time where we will have the opportunity to regather in our churches as a community…

In the best interest of everyone, there will of course be compromise, so things can be managed in a way to keep people safe.

Our challenge is think and act as a Community… so we can step forward.

Remember the obligation for Sunday Mass is suspended at the moment and we can only have 50 people in a Church at any one Mass.

So thinking and acting as a community, to facilitate everyone’s desire to return to celebrating liturgies as a community, you are encouraged to:

  • Attend during a weekday if you can rather than a Sunday
  • Attend once during the month of July
  • As we have been doing, continue to join with us in prayer online.

The churches where Mass will be celebrated are:

  • St. Joseph’s Church, Newtownmountkennedy
  • St. Anthony’s Church, Kilcoole
  • The Holy Rosary Church, Greystones

The plan is:

Week 29th June What will happen
Monday: Volunteers will receive a text or email on Monday as to when and where you are to gather for preparations.
Mid week: We will begin celebrating Mass with volunteers ONLY so they become familiar with the processes we are putting in place.
Thursday: Details of the booking systems will become available on the websites, noticeboards and outside churches.
Weekend of 4th July/5th July: Resume public Masses for a maximum of 50 people at any one Mass.

Accommodating and being mindful of each other is important during these coming weeks.

Listen to Fr. John’s homily and announcement below.

The announcement begins at 6:45 minutes (it may take a moment to load… please be patient).
