“Cheque-mate” by the Social, Hobby and Craft Group

On Wednesday, 9th September, the Social, Hobby and Craft Group, represented by Joan Jones with Fr. John, made a presentation of €1500 to Meals on Wheels.

This was the result of the face masks initiative where the sewing group, led by Joan Jones and coordinated by Susan Armstrong, made and sold over 400 masks to the local community, a fantastic achievement. Well done to Joan, Susan and all the team.

In addition, each year, the Social, Hobby and Craft Group also raise money for charity from sale of tea/coffee and raffles at the monthly events.

This raised a total of €700 which was also presented on the day to Greystones Cancer Support by Delia Barry and Fr. John.

Another visitor popped in, to see the presentation and sure wasn’t there a cuppa going too!

Special thanks to Fr. John, Louise Fenlon and Vincent Hanley for their help and support with both activities.

Sadly, due to COVID restrictions, the Social, Hobby and Craft Group will not resume until February 2021, COVID restrictions permitting.  Further updates to follow!
