Marriage
The following is a broad outline of the procedure for arranging a marriage. Contact the Parish office for further information.
Contact the Parish Office to ensure desired date is available and make booking with the Church.
The first obligation on a couple marrying is to ensure that they have their civil/state form “Notification to the Registrar of intention to marry” completed. This must be obtained from the area where the marriage is to be celebrated 3 months prior to the wedding date.
Complete the Parish Marriage Form and gather the following papers which must be dated within 6 months of the wedding and no earlier:
- Baptismal Certificate (not Birth Cert) dated within 6 months of the wedding
- Confirmation Certificate (this may be include in the Baptismal Cert) and dated within 6 months of the wedding
- Letter of Freedom (if impossible to get the required Letters of Freedom, an Affidavit, signed and sworn would suffice). A statement from parents declaring your freedom is generally very helpful. Contact the Parish Office for suggested wording.
