Children’s Liturgy of the Word

The Children’s Liturgy of the Word is back as of this Sunday.

It is open to school going children up to First Communion. We particularly encourage those preparing for First Communion to come along.
A child attends the Mass with their parent or guardian. Just before the Liturgy of the Word, children are invited to leave the church and go with their leader to the hall. All taking part will return to the Mass to celebrate the Our Father together and then join their family.

The leader will have prepared material focusing on the Gospel of that Sunday. The material will help the child to engage with the Scripture, the same Scripture that their parents are engaging with here in the Church. We will include an activity to enhance the understanding for the child.

Each Sunday there is an opportunity for children between 5 to 10 year old to spend time together with a leader to listen and do an activity on the Gospel of that Sunday.

Fulfilling Our Legal Obligation

Fr. John together with the Parish Child Safeguarding representatives wish to remind all in Public Ministry of our legal responsibility to ensure that each person who has a role in the running of our Parish is Garda vetted.

We need to play an active role in ensuring that we create a safe place for children, young people and vulnerable adults in our Parish in line with best practice and fulfill our obligation to the State by adhering to the law.

The diocese takes the view that those who exercise public ministry, whether as Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, members of choirs or whatever, minister to the whole congregation, which includes children and vulnerable persons and, therefore, must be vetted.

The process is not complicated and will not take long to complete – please read on for further details and assistance with the process.

Thank You Lord For Bringing Light Into Our Lives

The clocks have changed, the seasons are changing, our world is changing,Thank you Lord for staying the same.

The longer we journey on the road to inner healing and wholeness, the more the sense of belonging grows and deepens. The sense is not just one of belonging to others and to a community.
