Church Unity Week

January 18, 2020 to January 25, 2020.

At least once a year, Christians are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (see John 17.21).

Traditionally the week of prayer is celebrated between 18–25 January, between the feasts of St Peter and St Paul.

The theme for 2020 is ‘Unusual Kindness’.

Come and See…

NEW CHRISTIANS: We welcome Conor, John & James recently baptised children into our faith community. As they join our community through the waters of Baptism may they also continue to grow strong in body, mind and spirit in the years ahead.

WHO ME? In February we will be looking closely at the call to ministry each of us have as a result of our Baptism. Maybe this new year is your time to get actively involved. There’ll be a warm welcome and plenty of work to give you whatever your calling!

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PREPARATION MASS: On Sunday 19th Jan the 11.30am & 6.30pm Mass will be celebrated especially for families who are preparing a child for 1st Holy Communion.

CHURCH UNITY WEEK:  Traditionally the week of prayer is celebrated between 18–25 January, between the feasts of St Peter and St Paul. Christians come together to pray for their unity. The theme for 2020 is ‘Unusual Kindness’. Hospitality is a much needed virtue in our search for Christian unity.

HOLY ROSARY SOUP & SANDWICHES : 29 January 2020 Kilian House Family Centre; 12:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK 2020: This will take place this year from Sunday 26 January – Sunday 2 February on the theme ‘Catholic Schools: Living in Harmony with God’s Creation’.

HOSPITAL VISITATION: If you know of anyone who is sick in hospital or at home and would like a visit, please don’t hesitate to call one of the priests of the parish or the parish office.

CHARITY TAX REBATE: A big thank you for all who support the parish through the Planned Giving Collection. This is the only collection that stays in the parish. You can further support the parish by completing a CHY3 form. This permits the parish to claim the tax back on your donations to the parish. It is a simple process that can yield extra funds to support parish initiatives. Contact the parish office for further details. Thank you.

BECOMING A CATHOLIC?: Are you or someone you know interested in finding out more about the Christian Faith and the Catholic Church. If so please contact Fr. John after Mass or make enquiries to the Parish Office. We will begin our preparation for Adults wishing to be baptised or indeed make their 1st Communion or be Confirmed in the Catholic Faith at the Easter Vigil next Easter soon during the month of September.

All this news and more, available and in further detail on the Parish Information Sheet.
