Praying with Pope Francis during 2016

Each month, Pope Francis has two prayer intentions – one Universal and the other for Evangelisation.

Praying with the Pope offers you the opportunity to join an online community who unite their prayers and lives to the mission of the universal Church through the Pope’s monthly prayer themes.

Join the Pope by viewing the latest Pope video – for May  - Respect for Women.

Resources for the Journey

Walking the Path to Pentecost

As we move away from Easter our focus, from a church perspective, turns towards Pentecost.  Pentecost is the feast when the Holy Spirit came down onto the disciples assembled in the ‘Upper Room’.  It is this coming of the Spirit on the disciples that we celebrate in Confirmation. The name “Pentecost” comes from the Greek word meaning “fiftieth” and takes place 50 days after Easter.

We have put a fuller explanation of the relationship between Easter and Pentecost here, with a resource sheet for each of the 50 days; a calendar with suggestions for each day on how we might prepare for Pentecost.

It may be of interest to those preparing for confirmation this year.

Preparing for the Sacraments
