St. Brigid’s N.S. is a Catholic primary school for boys and girls from Junior Infants up to Sixth Class.

St Brigid’s promotes the full and harmonious development of each child. St Brigid’s provides equal access for all children to a broad and balanced curriculum fulfilling the requirements of the Department of Education and Skills. Catholic religious education is provided. We acknowledge the talents and gifts of each child and help each child learn in a happy and caring environment.

The school models and transmits a philosophy of life inspired by belief in God and in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. St. Brigid’s fosters a sense of community between management, teachers, parents, pupils and a sense of belonging to the wider community. Parental involvement is encouraged and appreciated. A spirit of mutual respect is promoted. Pupils are shown by example and teaching to appreciate and respect people of different religious affiliations and nationalities.

Brief History

St Brigid’s is a Roman Catholic co-educational school established in 1906 by the Holy Faith Sisters to provide Catholic education for the children of Greystones. The present school building was opened in 1973. Prior to 2000, St Brigid’s educated girls from Junior Infants to Sixth Class and boys from Junior Infants to First Class. In September 2000, St Brigid’s became a fully co-educational vertical school – Junior Infants to Sixth Class. On 1 October 2001, the day-to-day management of St Brigid’s was transferred by the Sisters of Holy Faith to the parish of Holy Rosary & St Kilian. Seomara Naomh Pádraig was demolished and rebuilt in 2011.

Today, St. Brigid’s has a student population of approximately 475, 17 mainstream Classes, 5 Special Educational Needs Teachers and 3 Special Needs Assistants.
